Outside, Looking In

Have you ever sat under a tree in an open field, looked down at your free flowing clothes and the flowered wreath that was once in your hair and thought, “DAMNIT, I wish I had some sort of music with me that would perfectly fit within this scenario that I am in!” Don’t worry, we’ve all been there. But look no further, for I have found the holy grail of relaxed, outdoors music! Outside, Looking In is the newest LP released by Beth King and the Hemingway Collective and boasts 13 of the most relaxed, ‘put you to sleep’ music that I have ever heard. Not put to sleep in a bad way, oh no. These songs will blow your mind with their ability to put you in a state of extreme relaxation and comfort. I challenge anyone to attempt to make it to the last song on the album without daydreaming of a world filled with flowers and rainbows, a world without corruption, hate or reality television. So for all of you out there who are wasting away on you knees praying for the perfect mix of folk/ blues/ soul, as we all are at some point in the day, you’re saviour has arrived. It is in the form of this harmonic, whimsical album that has answered the age old question of “if a tree falls in the forest what sound does it make”. My guess is that if it's in the forest, it probably sounds a lot like these songs. Ashleigh Blucher
