Queensland Voice for Mental Health Inc is a consumer and carer organisation made up of individuals and their representative groups, focused on promoting the health and wellbeing of all through advocacy, co-operation and education. Our aim is to implement a sustainable mechanism that enables on-going meaningful participation by consumers and carers in health services planning, delivery, monitoring and evaluation processes at the national, state and local level.

A brief history of how and why the organisation was formed is attached as is a statement setting out the aims and ethics of Queensland Voice for Mental Health

In recent times there has been an increasing number of “Voices” offering information about the needs and future of people with mental illness. Those “Voices” have been welcome and have provided commentary from the clinical, social status, political and economic points of view. The aim of Queensland Voice is to ensure that those living with mental illness have a “Voice” and the opportunity to be heard and to advocate for change and continued improvements to Government and non-Government services that will aid recovery.

To date our main activities have been centred around building good working relationships with Government and Non-Government Organisations, establishing procedures and mechanisms which adhere to the Mental Health Standards and ISO9001 and keeping our members informed.

The organisation has strong regional representation throughout Queensland and enjoys close, but independent, working relationships with Queensland Health, the Department of Communities and Queensland Alliance.

Queensland Voice will provide background material, news alerts, and news releases commenting on events, policies or community concerns. These releases will normally be through the President, Noel Muller. We will be able to provide comment and information on a request basis however, as an organisation with limited resources we may not always be able to do this immediately.
