The Queensland government has proposed new industrial relations laws to regulate the spending of unions and employer associations, among other things.
Now if an industrial organisation wants to spend $10 000 or more for a "political purpose" they will have to ballot their members and receive a majority vote in favour of it.
Unions in particular has responded with fury saying the new laws are an attempt to stifle their freedom of speech and the Attorney General Jarrod Bleijie has
acknowledged the laws are a step too far.
