Iranian asylum seekers protest against cruelty

Three Iranian asylum seekers have remained on the roof top of a Darwin detention centre since Friday night in protest to the length of detainment they have endured.

Their fellow detainees of the Northern Immigration Detention Centre say the protestors have been in detention for up to 17 months waiting for their asylum applications to be assessed.

The protestors believe the centre’s treatment of detainees is worse than the live export trade to Indonesia.
