Syrian Prime Minister Sneaks Across Border

Syrian Prime Minister Riad Hijab has defected to rebel fighters after sneaking across the Syrian border to Jordan last night.

Mr Hijab marks the highest-ranking defection of the uprising, which has lasted 17 months thus far.

Mr Hijab accused his Syrian President Bashar al-Assad of carrying out a "genocide" against his own people and that four decades of Assad family rule were collapsing.
