4ZZZ launched its glorious tradition of counting down listeners' 100 favourite songs on New Year's Day 1977. More than 10 years later, 2JJJ in Sydney (which employed many ex-Zed staff) began conducting its own Hot 100. Because 4ZZZ held the rights to the name Hot 100, there was a little bit of legal biffo when TripleJ became a national broadcaster, so they changed the name of their survey to the "Hottest 100".
Russian children debunked by police
57 people including 19 children have been found living underground in Russia’s Republic of Tartastan.
They were said to be members of an Islamist sect run by Fayzrahman (pron. Fay-zra-man) Satarov, separate to mainstream Muslim leaders and Russian law.
The bunker, which appeared to be made of decrepit concrete blocks, had multiple levels below ground with tight-quartered cells that had no light, ventilation or heat. Authorities say many of those found had “never seen the sun.”
