After 4ZZZ was evicted from its UQ premises in 1988, staff temporarily broadcast from the Mouth Coot-tha transmission tower, using a cassette player which was set up to go straight to air.
Elephants named as part of possible bushfire solution
A possible biological solution has been introduced to the problem of bushfires and invasive species in Australia. Elephants will be brought in and used as 'grass-eating machines' and used alongside Aboriginal patch burning to help manage fire risk.
Dr David Bowman, a professor of environmental change biology at the University of Tasmania argues the program is designed to address Australia's serious problems with the management of bushfires.
He believes aerial spraying programs are impractical, and a biological solution is needed to balance out nature.
"Buffalo, pigs and cane toads are now part of the landscape and we need to work with them," said Dr. Bowman.
