Floods Show No Sign of Easing

The regional Queensland town of Mitchell is enduring its worst flood on record after heavy rain on Thursday night caused the Maranoa River to break its banks and inundate homes.

Forty-five homes have now been flooded, forcing over two hundred people to leave and take refuge in evacuation centers throughout the town.

Officials say the river has now reached 9.3 meters and is still rising as other regional towns downstream brace for the flood.
