New planet could support life

Astronomers have discovered a planet outside our solar system and 22 light-years from Earth with temperatures that could support water and life.

The planet orbits an M-class dwarf star known as GJ-667C approximately every 28 days and absorbs similar amounts of light and energy from it as our Earth absorbs from the Sun.

Some experts remain skeptical about the discovery claiming that this class of stars would be unable to support life as they are often too dim and produce solar flare activity, sending fatal radiation to nearby planets.
