Queensland billionaire to try media ownership

Queensland billionaire and mining magnate Clive Palmer yesterday announced he will consider being involved in media ownership like his billionaire equivalent Gina Rinehart, who has recently become Fairfax media’s single largest shareholder.

Mr Palmer has expressed his interest in providing a service to the community, developing a newspaper which focuses on the professional standards of journalists rather than exerting influence over government policy.

Mr Palmer said he would first consider a newspaper in Queensland, which required a quality news source as popular media outlets like the Courier Mail had become more like a Woman's Day magazine.
