Bush docs want more cash

The Rural Doctors Association of Queensland says there needs to be more incentives for doctors to stay working in remote parts of the state.

RDAQ spokesman John Hall says there has actually been a decline in incentives for rural GPs.

He says doctors in rural areas need to be paid more in order for them to remain where they are needed.

Hundreds of people in the central western Queensland region of Barcaldine have raised concerns over the shire’s health services and lack of permanent GPs in the area.

The Rural Doctors say this cause needs action from both federal and state governments.
