Sting on truck safety meddling

Police are continuing their raid of Lennons Transport Services, seizing two more trucks overnight, one left abandoned at a truck stop.

The trucks are fitted with speed-limiting devices which have recently been found to have been tampered with by the Sydney-based company.

At least eight of 21 intercepted vehicles show signs of meddling with the safety devices.

The sting targeting Lennons began last month as driver Vincent George was charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle after the death of three people.

Officials are still searching for the remaining 14 of the fleet of 35 and say they are targeting other “rogue” trucking companies.
