Illegal Indonesian fires threaten wildlife
Indonesian-based palm oil companies have begun to illegally burn extensive areas of forest in northern Sumatra, Indonesia.
Local environmental groups share a great concern for the endangered orang-utans who can be found in the area, stating the species will be “doomed” if the fires are not stopped.
Masses of smoke from the fires are also beginning to cover the cities of Malaysia and Thailand, resulting in respiratory health and extended environmental concerns across the region.
