Immigration Minister set for eye-opening visit

Immigration Minister Chris Bowen is set to visit the Darwin Airport Lodge, currently being used to house asylum seeker families.

Fernanda Dahlstrom from the Darwin Asylum Seeker Support and Advocacy Network says there are currently 117 minors in the lodge, 34 of which are unaccompanied minors.

Refugee advocates say they hope Minister Bowen’s visit will open his eyes to the plight of families, and particularly children, living in detention.
