Indigenous university enrolments steadily increasing

A federal government report has found that the increase of Indigenous students enrolling into higher education has increased by 24 per cent between 2008-2011. Indigenous student numbers rose by 6.6 per cent last year, which was a higher growth than the overall population at 3.6 per cent. Enrolments also increased for students from low socioeconomic backgrounds. Though there is an increase in indigenous student enrolments, there is still an evident gap between indigenous students and the overall population of students.
