Cancer risk for coal workers

A six year probe into cancer rates at one of Australia’s largest coal processing terminals has found workers are getting cancer three times more than the average.

Researchers have found the link between the site and the increased cancer rights to be strong enough for a relationship, but are unable to identify what the cause might be.

Workers at the Kooragang Island coal terminal in Newcastle were told of the findings on Thursday.
