Before 4ZZ could start broadcasting in 1975, a transmitter was ordered from the U.S. But after it was lost on the dock in New York, 4ZZ's chief engineer at the time Ross Dannecker built the station's first transmitter.
Fears for indigenous training centre
A south-west Queensland council has fronted concerns its indigenous training centre may be forced to close due to cuts in funding from federal government.
The Paroo council operates Cunnamulla’s trades depot for indigenous job seekers, but could face only receiving funding if people using the service find full-time work.
Mayor Lindsay Godfrey says the council are looking to maintain the program to ensure residents can have a reasonable role in the community, even if that does only mean part-time work.
