Qld minister’s son employed during lay-offs
The Newman government has come under fire after the son of Arts minister Ros Bates was given a 12 month employment contract while thousands of public servants had their jobs axed.
Ben Gommer was given a contract as a liaison office in the Department of Transport and Main Roads in May this year.
The Queensland government has previously announced that the public sector had 20,000 more employees than it needed, which would be the target of cost saving measures.
