Disability service criticises QLD Gov on disability spending

A Queensland-based disability service says the state will not save money by refusing to trial the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

Premier Campbell Newman says Queensland cannot afford to contribute any money, and the Federal Government says New South Wales and Victoria are not offering enough to help fund pilot programs.

However the chief executive of the Endeavour foundation, David Barbagallo, says that the Queensland government will pay for the problems of disability system either way, through child support, criminal justice and health.

Lobby groups remain hopeful that Queensland will join the NDIS when the budget returns to surplus.
