Sri Lankan asylum seeker released

Manokala Jenaddarsan who fled war torn Sri Lanka with her son in 2009 was eligible for a protection visa but was still moved into detention. Maurice Blackburn lawyers, advocates for Ms Jenaddarsan, received a letter yesterday from Brendan O’Connor indicating that the ASIO had reversed their decision. Ms Jenaddarsan was one of 55 refugees detained at the Villawood Detention Centre because of their status as a potential security threat and were never told why, said Maurice Blackburn.
