Growing uncertainty for mental health funding

Thousands of Australians who are seeking help for mental health issues are facing growing uncertainty because Federal Government funding for many organisations have not been guaranteed after June 30th this year.

In an open letter to Health Minister Sussan Ley and Prime Minister Tony Abbott seventy mental health organisations, including Headspace and Mental Health Care Australia, outlined their worries regarding the future of programs if the government does not give certainty about funding soon.

Ms Ley says the Federal Government is finalising funding plans and will release a report soon to resolve the issue.
