Law firm looks into dam class action

A law firm is looking into taking class action against the operator of Queensland’s Callide Dam.

In february this year about 400 properties in Jambin and Biloela were flooded when the dam’s automatic gates opened in response to heavy rainfall from Cyclone Marcia.

Maddens Lawyers is calling for any victims of the flooding to attend a public meeting this evening to discuss the possibility of a class action against Sunwater, the dam’s operator.

Principal Brendan Pendergast says he believes there to be strong grounds for flood victims to sue for damages, aggravated by the dam’s history, with a similar incident occurring in 2013.
