Lee Kuan Yew, the Prime Minister of Singapore has died at the age of 91, after leading Singapore for more than thirty years. Lee Hsien Long, his son and current Prime Minister of Singapore announced his death on Monday morning.

World leaders have expressed their sympathies and tributes to Lee’s career, with US President Barack Obama calling him ‘a true giant of history,’ and Chinese president Xi Jinping calling Lee an ‘old friend of the Chinese people.’

Hong Lim Park in Singapore has been converted into a memorial location for Lee. The park, which previously included Speakers’ Corner, a place where Singaporeans were allowed to hold protest without a permit, has had its unrestricted status revoked.
