Palaszczuk demands fair share for NDIS

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk wrote to Prime Minister Tony Abbott yesterday demanding the government increases its share of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (or NDIS).

Under the current NDIS agreement, states receive only a quarter of the levy raised by the higher Medicare levy originally put in place to fund the NDIS.

Premier Palaszczuk says the full amount of funds raised by states should be returned to states to ensure a quick NDIS roll out.

The premier will be meeting with other state governments on Friday for the Council of Australian Governments meeting where she is hoping to form consensus with other states on how to respond to federal-state funding.
