World-first veterans' mental health study launches in Brisbane

The world’s first comprehensive clinical study of veterans’ mental health is officially being launched in Brisbane today with the aim of being able to identify those at risk of developing problems much earlier and while in service.

RSL Queensland and the Gallipoli Medical Research Foundation have united to initiate Australia’s largest clinical research project to better understand the mental health challenges contemporary veterans face and provide a pathway for recovery.

Medical researcher Miriam Dwyer says the major issue is not just Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder but reintegration back into civilian life.
