Brisbane Airport domestic terminal is set for its largest expansion

Brisbane Airport’s domestic terminal is set to undergo its biggest expansion since it opened in 1988, with the construction of a new regional airline building now out to market.

The expansion will increase the number of gates at the domestic terminal from 61 to 72, with the potential for a further six gates as demand increases.

Project Manager Greg McKenzie said the 2,000 square metre terminal will initially be a stand-alone building 300 metres away from the existing building.

Eventually, it will be connected to the main terminal via a walkway to the Qantas “finger” at the Northern end of the terminal.

Work is expected to start in early 2016.
