Nigerian army rescues 200 girls and 93 from Boko Haram stronghold

Nigeria’s military says it has rescued 200 girls and 93 women from the Sambisa Forest - a notorious Boko Haram stronghold.

The armed forces have not yet confirmed whether any of the rescued girls were among the 200 schoolgirls the militant group Boko Haram kidnapped in April 2014 from the village of Chibok.

Nigerian troops also captured and destroyed three terrorist camps in the Sambisa Forest, the armed forces said.

The troops are still combing through the forest.
