Want to spend a great day listening to live music, supporting some of the best creative youngsters in Brisbane, and celebrating 40 years of Zed? Then head down to the 4ZZZ HQ in Fortitude Valley for the most anticipated all-ages event of 2015. Under 25 and interested in getting involved in community radio? Come along and found out how to become a part of Brisbane's thriving creative scene.   From midday you can listen to local talent such as Asha Jefferies, Paper Tiger, The Eagle Junction and Concrete Surfers. You can also embrace creativity with fantastic young artists and musicians taking over the 4ZZZ building (264 Barry Parade, Fortitude Valley). You can grab a bite, check out the awesome market stalls and join in on a station tour or the fascinating creative workshop on the day. With the full lineup of bands to be revealed on-air in the coming weeks, this drug & alcohol free youth event will be held as part of National Youth Week celebrations, April 10 – April 19, 2015.   4ZZZ is Brisbane’s youth broadcaster and one of the country’s oldest independent community radio stations. Now in its 40th year it continues to support and advocate for musicians, artists and underground culture; giving radio access to community members, local bands, and artists. 4ZZZ also broadcasts independent news and current affairs, while training and empowering their volunteers. Youth Open Day is produced for emerging creative youth, by a dedicated group of under-18 4ZZZ volunteers.   On Saturday April 18, 4ZZZ will be a place for local under 25s to meet one another, have a great time, show off their skills, and get involved in community-based creative industries.   FREE STATION TOURS Station tours will be free for all attendees. Discover the building and its vibrant history; see the on air studios, our extensive music library, as well info on how to become a volunteer and announcer at the station. Meet on the hour at Barry Parade entrance.   WORKSHOP 4ZZZ’s creative workshop will give you the run-down on how to submit music to the 4ZZZ music department for airplay. Workshops will be open to subscribers of 4ZZZ who are under 25 years of age. Sign up on the day or early-bird registration via the website. PLAY AND EXHIBIT - UNDER 18 Presented by 4ZZZ's youth programmers; '4ZZZ Youth Show', one emerging band under 18, will have a chance to play on the lineup for the Youth Open Day on Saturday April 18, while four budding artists from local high schools have a chance to have their work displayed in the exhibition.
