Street Pieces

STREET PIECES love nothing more than seeing heads banging and hips swinging along to their infectious, always energetic and at times sexy blend of blues infused rock. Forging a sound inspired by so many, Ben, Alex, Marcus and Justin are constantly pushing their creative skills, looking for new ways to excite, entrance and ensnare a live audience. Street Pieces’ reputation has earned them the right to work with some of Australia’s most respected and awarded producers including Magoo (Regurgitator, Midnight Oil) Jeff Lovejoy (Powderfinger, Screaming Jets) and Mike Howlett (Flock of Seagulls) as well as play with legends like Wolfmother, The BellRays, Shihad and The Radiators. They will be releasing a brand new single on October 10 at The Zoo. THE KINETICS are a three piece alt rock band from Brisbane. Drawing from their various influences they have developed a unique melodic alternative rock style. Check out their latest, Paper Cages COMMON DEERS This band biography is dedicated to Sir Robert Menzies (Australia’s longest serving Prime Minister), and the protein-rich substance we call milk. We are a newly formed, well-hydrated, four-piece rock ensemble from Brisbane with a passion for jumping and lots of sounds. But please don’t be put off; our sounds are good and our jumps are strong and balanced. For those born with the rare ability to hear through their eyes who demand us to describe our sound, the truth is we probably can’t. And if we could, we probably wouldn’t. Fortunately, we play our music live which means you can hopefully answer this for us. But first, let’s get some things straight. Guys, we’re not trying to steal your girlfriends. And girl’s, we’re not trying to steal your boyfriends. We can definitely vouch for the latter, although we might need to verify with our second guitarist. Who we are:
  • James McGuire – bass guitarist and band theologian.
  • Kyle Brown – drummer and lover.
  • Simon Nelson (mentioned earlier) – second guitarist and backup vocals.
  • Jayden Beale – vocalist and guitarist, lonely.
Now, some of you may be skeptical about our intentions as a band, but let us assure you that we are not doing this simply for the money. No, we are doing this for so much more. We intend to set up extensive financial investments from our music’s earnings which will yield a monopoly of wealth. Words like ‘money’ don’t even begin to scratch the surface. Our influences are many, including bands such as Thrice, Incubus, Karnivool, Circa Survive – basically bands that aren’t terrible. Off the stage, our influences are primarily Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and pizza. Wrapping it up, we actually are quite committed to making good, genuine music. We mean literally, bring your grandmother to a live set and we promise she’ll have a good time. And if she doesn’t, she can just go home. THE DRAFTS are a 4 piece band from Brisbane with an alternative, blues rock feel to their sound and originals channeling styles from the likes of Silverchair, Black Keys, Vampire Weekend, Arctic Monkeys, Muse, Powderfinger and The Beatles. Having released their debut EP ‘Weekend Conquest’ in late 2014 the boys are launching their second EP ‘Shade’ and looking to make a push in 2015 to play many more gigs around Brisbane and Australia. Since the band formed in February 2013 The Drafts have played as both supporting acts and headliners at Brisbane Zombie Walk (charity event), WinterMuse (Local’s Only event) and UBERfest as well as gracing the stage at some great local venues such as Ric’s Bar, Hotel LA, Beetle Bar and The Zoo.
