Zed started broadcasting on 8 December 1975, while Queensland was under the yoke of the Bjelke-Petersen National Party government.
The federal Labour (Whitlam) government had been sacked just days earlier, but their media policy was facilitating the birth of a whole generation of Australian public broadcasting stations.
