As a diverse genre, Balkan music is characterised by its unique combination of local folk traditions, instruments, and rhythms. The most powerful songs are not the fast ones, but the slow, emotional, gentle ones, that make the hair on the arms go up. Balkan music makes people extremely happy, drunk and sad.
