Here We Go MagicThe January EP
Secretly Canadian / Inertia

- Almost exactly a year after their last album Brooklynites Here We Go Magic return in the same spinning, hypnotic haze as they departed. How pleasant it is to be immersed again in the slightly silly and repetitive dreaminess which is never boring but just drifts across you like a cooling breeze and is gone again. It is funny how something so rhythmic can be so calm, you can really hear the rhythm emerge on the rather bouncing Backwards Time but everywhere else it is content to be quite self-effacing. Here We Go Magic's very particular brand of psych pop has lots of hooks and I think I've swallowed them all.
