Warp / Inertia

- Sometimes the silliness of HudMo makes me crease my brow, but really I'm not sure why. It fits superbly with all his Warp label mates, from the Aphex Twin and Squarepusher on down. Like those crazy fellows he also knows how to make the dancefloor bang when he wants to. This latest EP is a grower for me, I really didn't get the single Thunder Bay to start with, but now it's got me jumping like nobody's business. I'm not sure or - let me rephrase that - I'm pretty sure he wouldn't like to be called IDM, after all who does, but I think this might be a second coming of the style, hiding in some very danceable grooves. Actually, he has christened his style "emotronic soulfulness" ... very, very silly. Whatever, it's got me boppin'.
