- Former TTT frontguy Simon Gibbs has gone from post-punk to something a bit experimental. The relentless post-punk rhythms remain but with all the guitars stripped out (on most tracks) and chant-like vocals that weave around in close harmony. It produces a sound that is very angular, distressed and a bit distressing. There are even dubby bits yet the echoes are not of dopey relaxtion but those of hallucinogenic madness. Similarly parts of this were supposed to be inspired by Arvo Part, but I've got to say you don't get the ethereal beauty of Part, only the most fiendish hints of his experimentalism. If you added a bit more sweetness this would probably end up in the same sort of electrically thrilling terriotry as Kyu. I don't mind skull-pounding music in the slightest but I'm wondering if there's enough here to justify the punishment.
