- US synth-pop chappy Washed Out (or Ernest Green) delivers his first full-length album, recorded far from the safety of his bedroom in Georgia, but sounding confident in its great layers of blissful electronica. Apropos of this Mr. Green has been acting confidently in all sorts of circles, signing to labels like Sub Pop and Domino (or Pod here in Oz), appearing at Pitchfork festivals and getting chucked on the bill for ATPs. With all that attention the burden of expectation could become crushingly heavy on a young gent. For the moment however, Washed Out is bearing-up with a very listenable tunefulness, a seemingly effortless cool and a subdued yet emotively smouldering quality that is bound to set those hipsters hearts a-flutter.
