The Malice Box
Perfectly combining action, magic, romance, the works of Carl Jung and a myriad of riddles, Langfield draws you into the chaos that is British journalist Robert Reckliss’ life as he races against time to save Manhattan from the biggest threat since 9/11. Assisted only by a tempestuous psychic Terri and an old college friend he must complete seven trials in seven days in order to save his world from absolute destruction.
At times terrifying, at times touching, Langfield manages to capture the essence of human emotion and psychology and draw the reader into his world with seemingly no effort. The feeling becomes that of being alongside Robert in his race against time and the ominous Watchmen: attacking the riddles as he does his desperation becomes yours.
In the author’s own words: What do the following places, people or things have in common: - Shirley Bassey, a bowler hat and the state of Kentucky; - the particle accelerator called RHIC at Brookhaven National Laboratory, Long Island; and - the mediaeval English coins known as Rose Nobles?
Well… you’ll just have to read it to find out.
