Book Review
Talon of the Silver Hawk
Within the first few paragraphs the world he has created seems real, tangible. A master of words, the imagery he creates is all-encompassing. Without exposition he manages to keep you there, you are standing with Talon on the mountain, you can feel the icy wind through your hair and smell the pristine isolation.
And then, in a moment your peace is shattered and you are dragged into a clash of the ages, a world of war, politics and raw magic where nothing is quite as it seems. You follow Talon's journey: his loves, his hopes, his hatred, and his struggle between loyalty to those who saved him and his need for vengeance against those who murdered his family, ripping him from his simple contented existence and thrusting him headlong into brutal reality.
Finishing the book was almost bittersweet: a brilliant ending that leaves you satisfied but still wanting more. Nothing feels unfinished, every detail of Feist's world is complete. And it is a world you'll want to revisit again and again and again.
