Live Review

Hidden TreasureZZZ #3 @ New Globe Theatre

Hidden TreasureZZZ is the new Saturday afternoon live music event that is proving to be a popular time for people to get out to see live music. Normally Hidden TreasureZZZ happens on the foyer stage at the New Globe Theatre but this time we were able to use the Main Stage due to the Wrong End of the Valley festival coinciding with Hidden TreasureZZZ #3.

It is really great to see so many people out to support our local artists even though we were competing with a long weekend and footy finals. This time around we were thoroughly entertained by Doozy Daze, Thirteen Seventy and Mudshadows as we celebrate girls in rock. We decided to make this HiddenTreasureZZZ female centric by choosing bands who had at least one female member. Interestingly all the bands performing today have female drummers.

Doozy Daze are pretty fresh to the music scene but their poppy, punk rock vibe is gaining them all the right kinds of attention. In July this year they appeared among the finalists in the Homegrown Battle of the Bands. Doozy Daze are an energetic fourpiece who will hopefully continue to daze us with their lively performances for some time yet.

Thirteen Seventy are next on the bill. To the best of my knowledge (which is not all that great) the band haven't played live in a while as they have been busy in the studio recording their third album "Cover up the Signs". The lack of gigs has done them no harm though, they sound brilliant as ever. It is so great to hear the new tracks live as they weave their lovely blend of shoegaze and atmospheric grunge before our ears. Today is the first airing of the new material since the release of the album which makes the performance today an extra specaial one. I recommend you check out the link below and purchase a copy of Cover up the Signs.

Finally Mudshadows deliver their best set yet and that is saying something considering all the other sets I have heard over the past couple of months have also been amazing. Relative new comers to the scene, Mudshadows formed in 2015 and have been turning heads every since. Recently Tonedeaf premiered the clip for the seven minute epic Carpet Head which was well deserved attention. Mudshadows are definitely a band to watch and absolutely a band to go see.

Come to the next Next Hidden TreasureZZZ and enjoy the vibe for yourself. The next HT is 12 November and we have some surprises in store so keep an eye on the Facey page (link below) and give it a like while you are there. Check out more about the bands via the links below.
