When 4ZZZ's original space was being built by hand under the Schonell Theatre at Queensland University, a baby grand piano from the theatre above was bricked in to Studio 3. We don't know how they got it out...

Romantics Anonymous
Do you like chocolate? Do you like romantic, light-hearted and just a little bit corny comedies? Can you read subtitled films? Then Romantics Anonymous should be what you see this weekend. -
Sione’s 2: Unfinished Business
Sione’s 2 is a bro-mance comedy that is simple, enjoyable and sure to make you laugh! -
Killer Elite
Robert De Niro, Jason Statham and Clive Owen star in the action film Killer Elite, directed by Gary McKendry. The blockbuster is based on 1991 novel The Feather Man written by Sir Ranulph Fiennes, which caused a stir on release. -
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (David Fincher, 2011)
Visually the film is downright stunning. David Fincher does a great job capturing the darkness of the story in the frame with lots of dark lighting, blacks and greys - even the snow refuses to be pure white and carries a sinister shade. -
Hobo With A Shotgun
This may satisfy gore-hounds but it will leave most others watching the clock. -
Norwegian Wood
A beautiful meditation on loss, sadness and the impact the dead have on those they leave behind. -
The Hunter
Australian director Daniel Nettheim spoke to 4ZZZ’s Melanie Dinjaski before the Brisbane premiere of his film, The Hunter. -
Basilicata Coast to Coast
Showcasing some of the most serene and untouched countryside in Italy, Basilicata Coast to Coast is a fun filled musical road trip romp, that is sure to make you smile. -
The Edge
Stunningly produced, with stellar on-screen performances, The Edge is a beautiful piece of cinema. This heart-felt and nail-biting narrative is Russian film at its best. -
The Beaver
The Beaver may just be the platform for his slow journey back. -
Hanna
A kinetic and entertaining thriller that is let down by some clunky performances and a half-hearted plot. -
The Killage
I was lucky enough to be invited along to the premier of Brisbane's latest independent feature film last Thursday night, a shlock horror indie joyride from ArtSpear Entertainment that far surpassed my expectations. -
The Tree Of Life
A polished, high-concept piece of cinema. Sometimes too opaque for its own good, but always beautiful. -
Snowtown
Shocking, but brilliant, Snowtown is one of those films you love to hate. As fascinating, intense and remarkable as it is, the story of murderers Jamie Vlassakis and John Bunting, is also horrific, brutal and painfully sad. -
Super 8, more like super RATE.
Super 8 is a rare phenomenon in the movie world. It is a movie that stands up to its hype and still manages to impress. It is a movie that could herald the resurrection of a classic movie genre. With a style throwing back to E.T. and Close Encounters of the Third Kind Spielberg and Abrams manage to rekindle an 80s style sci-fi thriller and create a family drama all in one. It’s ironic that a success in modern cinema finds its strength in cinematic styles and ideas of a few decades prior. -
The Unlikely Superhero
Starring a fully clothed and clean shaven Ryan Kwanten (sorry True Blood fans) Griff the Invisible shakes up the superhero genre like never before. After the first clichéd line – “Get outta my neighbourhood” – delivered by a man in a rubber suit, you may think otherwise. But whoa there now. This superhero is a little different. -
Sex Friends: Is It Possible?
Is it possible to be friends that have sex? No spooning or cuddling, no falling asleep (especially with your clothes on), no listing as emergency contacts – it’s purely about the physical. Emma (Natalie Portman), too busy for a real relationship, decides to give it a go with Adam (Ashton Kutcher), a boy she shut down at a summer camp 15 years ago. -
(Movie) Oliver Irving - How to Be
I don’t know how to describe this, but I’d define Robert Pattinson’s fame as some sort of Disney curse. We’ve seen it all happen before (*cough* Zac Efron), but with not someone who is, actually (sorry!), talented.
