4ZZZ launched its glorious tradition of counting down listeners' 100 favourite songs on New Year's Day 1977. More than 10 years later, 2JJJ in Sydney (which employed many ex-Zed staff) began conducting its own Hot 100. Because 4ZZZ held the rights to the name Hot 100, there was a little bit of legal biffo when TripleJ became a national broadcaster, so they changed the name of their survey to the "Hottest 100".
Almaryse & the Frill of the Fright
Almaryse (formerly of Maiden Speech and occasionally dallying with Alt-Pop-Rockers The Stress Of Leisure) has a Glam Pop vision.
The Frill Of The Fight is Almaryse's entourage and is made up of a mix of fresh faces and deeply rooted, seriously talented folk. These are the sort of exciting and happening people anyone would wish to brush shoulders with. Some adorn the stage with her, some build amazing costumes, some structure inspired sounds and grooves and all generally explode Almaryse's mind with their brilliance.
Altogether, the combination of Almaryse & The Frill Of The Fight promises to stimulate aural, visual, cerebral and physical in the most sensational of ways. Starting with the anticipation of your first experience of what transpires in their live shows and upon hearing the studio recordings.
