4ZZZ launched its glorious tradition of counting down listeners' 100 favourite songs on New Year's Day 1977. More than 10 years later, 2JJJ in Sydney (which employed many ex-Zed staff) began conducting its own Hot 100. Because 4ZZZ held the rights to the name Hot 100, there was a little bit of legal biffo when TripleJ became a national broadcaster, so they changed the name of their survey to the "Hottest 100".
DarkLab are an eclectic, psych-rock three piece that is comprised of Tedreiko "Andreas" Edwards (Guitar), Juan Hamchez (Bass) & Dean Hamilton (Drums). Meeting while studying music way back in 2002, the discussion took place about doing the originals thing. After developing a solid and diverse set, DarkLab began to gig around Brisbane. With influences from Steely Dan to Faith No More, they have been described as a genre bending boogietown. Recently recorded tracks have been mixed and mastered by Lativian producer Yuri Belgrave (Night Sun, ECG 2032, Hobo Kebab). Check out their website to see for yourself!
