After 4ZZZ was evicted from its UQ premises in 1988, staff temporarily broadcast from the Mouth Coot-tha transmission tower, using a cassette player which was set up to go straight to air.
Death by Dance
Forming in November 2008, they wasted no time engraving their name into the local scene and by their first birthday had shared the stage with national acts Mammal (Melbourne), Many Machines On Nine (Sydney), The Scissor File (Melbourne), House Vs Hurricane (Melbourne) as well as local acts Burning Brooklyn, Nine Sons of Dan, Skyway, Letters to Spain and Monster Goes Rawr. As momentum and word of mouth continued to increase, they have since played with national touring bands, Chris Duke and The Royals, The Heartbreak Club and Radio Star as well as numerous local bands.
Their first single ‘Let Go’ released in May 2010 received high rotation on reputed internet radio station Radar Radio as well as Triple M (Melbourne/Brisbane) and USQ Phoenix Radio.
After two years of constant shows, bleeding fingers and hoarse throats, Death by Dance released their debut EP, I am The Verse, in March 2011 to a sell out crowd on the Brisbane river. Both the EP and video clip for their first single, Pseudo Romance toys with the line between fairy tales and horror while keeping lyrical content firmly set in reality.
With a live show that will have you screaming for more, Death by Dance leave the crowd in a state of chaos and raw energy. Fighting against a scene that asks for unoriginality and contrived perfection, Death by Dance are the band who will force you to remember what music is supposed to be about.
