4ZZZ launched its glorious tradition of counting down listeners' 100 favourite songs on New Year's Day 1977. More than 10 years later, 2JJJ in Sydney (which employed many ex-Zed staff) began conducting its own Hot 100. Because 4ZZZ held the rights to the name Hot 100, there was a little bit of legal biffo when TripleJ became a national broadcaster, so they changed the name of their survey to the "Hottest 100".
Dugong and the Riotards
A Punk Band
Dugong and the Riotards started out in late 2010 with the intention to play short sharp thrash/punk songs. We have played a number of gigs over the last couple of years including fund raisers for depression and cancer through to parties in parks which once resulted in a police helicopter hovering above us and a hand full of heavily armed police surrounding us, luckily our sets are short and we were finishing up by the time they'd arrived. Dugong and the Riotards recorded late last year with Ben Thomson (B2) at Opus Den which is availble in 7" form or download it from our Bandcamp.
