Before 4ZZ could start broadcasting in 1975, a transmitter was ordered from the U.S. But after it was lost on the dock in New York, 4ZZ's chief engineer at the time Ross Dannecker built the station's first transmitter.

Gunk is a post grunge grungey band mixed with a little bit of punk rock pumping out the tunes in Brisbane. The trio's name came from a drunken night of karaoke combined with a terrible miscommunication whilst talking about salty peanuts. Consisting of Alex Campbell on vocals and guitar, Caroline Townsend on bass and Laura Maccormac on drums Gunk was formed in early 2010 and proceeded to start cracking out the originals straight away.
