Ironside

Ironside are not reinventing the wheel, let's just get that out of the way first. They're hoping that people will find something likeable in the simplicity of what is on offer... straight up, blues-influenced, drunk-rock! Evidently it's paying off as the band has already this year graced the stage with such bands as The Prehistorics (Syd), Midget, White Mansions, Hell Crab City (Syd), Giants of Science and came runners up out of 50 bands in a massive band competition held at Ric's Bar in Fortitude Valley over the course of 13 weeks. They were also selected to play a guest slot on 4ZZZ's Brain Banana (Zed's big annual fundraising event) alongside Cosmic Psychos (Melb) and Teargas.

This project sees Nathan returning to drums after a 6 year hiatus whilst he got his life on track, settled down and got a mortgage etc. This is also the first time Daniel (ex-At Sea and ShrewmS) has fronted an originals band, something that was long overdue. The regrettable departure of Tal in early 2010 has seen the introduction of Darren "Disco" Goleby (ex-Imperial Black) on bass and despite him not having played for a few years, he's slotting in nicely and sports a very appropriate beard!

Ironside completed some basic recordings mid-2009 with Murray Paas at Foundry Sounds on a very meagre budget, just for demo purposes and recently tried their hand with a live recording of a show at The Troubadour in Brisbane. If all goes to plan, this will provide us with a live disc for the eager trainspotters!

The band will be setting sights on an E.P. or full album in early 2011 (funding pending) and are already working in overdrive on new material.
