The Kings Enemies

The Kings Enemies is Brisbane/Meanjin-based songwriter/musician Michael Bolger.

I played in grunge/garage bands in Perth (As Is, The Hoovers) and as a solo artist performing minimalist creep-pop tunes in Sydney (MAB) and Brisbane (Analog Mike). As Analog Mike, I composed the soundtrack "Home Soon" which, in collaboration with Brisbane Poet Michelle Dicinoski's words and images, won the 2008 Queensland Poetry Festival film makers challenge.

My Brisbane musical history includes 10 years as lead guitarist for primitive sixties garage rock stalwarts The Busymen (I wrote “Evangelist for Rock’n’Roll” which hit #44 in 4ZZZ’s 2015 Hot 100); lead guitarist for short-lived outfit Bloodshot (with Mick Blood of Lime Spiders fame) and alt-garagers The Buzzrays. Nowadays I am also out front with alt-blues rockers Dirty Press.

The Kings Enemies will release the imaginatively titled "Fourth" E.P. in 2024, with other TKE releases on Mikey Boy Music including 2022's “Confesionarios”, 2020’s “Praying to a digital device” and 2015’s “Reign, Man” E.P.'s, plus 2018’s two track soundscape instrumental “Lost Sound Tracks”.
