Around 1998 4ZZZ, 4MBS, and Family Radio started broadcasting from the one installation at Mt Coot-tha. Prior to this 4MBS and Family Radio had merely leased land beside 4ZZZ but then Brisbane City Council decided that having three transmission towers and huts in the one place was an eyesore and encouraged the three radio stations to share facilities. This resulted in the three radio stations developing a company called Broadcasting Park to negotiate with the Council. This company consisted of three shares, one owned by each member station.
Levic
Named after an electrochemical equation, their formula for song writing is also producing some exciting results. After undergoing a line-up change in mid 2008, the band has settled into a creative rhythm, now producing their best work since their conception in late 2007.
Drawing inspiration from bands such as Cog, Sparta and Anberlin, they also incorporate a mixing-pot of influences and genres to create a fresh sound of rock. Levic pride themselves on delivering the end result in an exciting and well rehearsed live set and have played a range of venues around Brisbane, including Hi-Fi Bar, Ric’s, The Valley Studios and Rosie’s. They have also recently composed their first EP, featuring six neat and diverse tracks. The self titled litlle number moves from a high-energy rock number in ‘Tall Poppies’ to driving guitar licks and a catchy chorus in ‘Chameleon’. ‘Lapse’ an instrumental track demonstrates each members comfort in moving around their respective instruments. Levic is truly poised to make their mark in 2010.
‘Levic are definitely a band to watch in 2010. The flashy riffs and catchy melodies make their songs hard to shake.’ - Phoenix Radio
