4ZZZ launched its glorious tradition of counting down listeners' 100 favourite songs on New Year's Day 1977. More than 10 years later, 2JJJ in Sydney (which employed many ex-Zed staff) began conducting its own Hot 100. Because 4ZZZ held the rights to the name Hot 100, there was a little bit of legal biffo when TripleJ became a national broadcaster, so they changed the name of their survey to the "Hottest 100".
Lunch Tapes
Lunch Tapes, what does it mean you ask? Well the name is rather abstract and we feel that our music has similar artistic expression.
The five piece band have come up with an interesting musical direction, incorporating the sounds of a reverb drenched violin, Haunting melodic vocals and various ambient guitar elements. Backed up by a solid 60's influenced rhythm section.
With such influences such as Velvet Underground, The Creation, The Monks and The Brian Jonestown Massacre. Lunch Tapes music is based around raw improvisation and abstract sounding instrumentation.
The guys have drawn from such influences of the beach pop and raw experimental elements of the 60's. The 80's guitar sounds of the Smiths and The Stone Roses, and 90's neo-psychadelia.
Peace.
Tapes.
