4ZZZ launched its glorious tradition of counting down listeners' 100 favourite songs on New Year's Day 1977. More than 10 years later, 2JJJ in Sydney (which employed many ex-Zed staff) began conducting its own Hot 100. Because 4ZZZ held the rights to the name Hot 100, there was a little bit of legal biffo when TripleJ became a national broadcaster, so they changed the name of their survey to the "Hottest 100".
Monster Zoku Onsomb!
Formed in 2004 in the cultural swamps of Australia’s most gleaming citadel.. Brisbane's Monster Zoku Onsomb! are an electronic band who have forged their own sound from the shattered pieces of kitsch retrodelica and contemporary bass culture. Their UK vinyl releases on DEATH$UCKER RECORDS are collectables and live, they are a FIESTA!; Instantly injecting any venue and any clic with their unequalled energy. An hour on the floor with these guys is an auditory clean out and full body work(smirk) out! Feel the burn and ride the rush : It's an elevatory smack down of biblical proportions complete with miracles of sound, revelations of the mind, and apocalyptic ass shakin'!
After four tours of Japan, Europe and Russia, MZO! are happy to call Australia home for a while - hec, they might even tour their own country for once!
