Street Pieces

-- Get to know our sub musos --

First time you ever listened to 4ZZZ?

A - Back when I first moved to Brisbane 10 years ago. I always switch over when I’m looking for something local, new and different!

J - since 2005, but I really got into it around 2010/11 when bands like trashqueen/Dirtybird were doing Triple Zed carpark gigs and copping steady airtime.

First time you were ever played on 4ZZZ?

A - The first time we were played on 4ZZZ would have been our single Run, we came in and had a chat to Cass Crash on Renaissance Radio one Tuesday morning and played an acoustic version of our single. That was the first time we were ever on the radio!

First gig you ever played?

A - The first gig we played was Tequila Thursday at The Beetle Bar (RIP), had a blast playing with some great new local bands. It’s sad to see any local venue close its doors, especially one with such great memories.

Funniest on-stage f##k up?

Not on stage per se, but when performing live in the 4ZZZ studio Alex’s guitar swung into Ben’s face, splitting it open. Naturally we had to pretend nothing was happening and finish the song. Ben stepped out to get some water as soon as the song finished, where he bumped into ex Rolling Stones tour manager Sam Cutler who neglected to tell Ben his face was bleeding.

If you could play with one band/muso (dead or alive) in the 4ZZZ carpark who +why?

B - Zeppelin would be incredible, giants of rock and roll and they set the bar for live shows. We kind of modelled our live show off them. We love the idea of the supergroup, each member a master of their instrument.

What is the kewlest/ most definitive feature of  your group/ musical project?

B - Our good looks, we each own a vineyard. Marcus’s biceps.

If you were to turn out your pockets at the end of a tour, what is the most common thing you would find?

No guitar picks, Numbers and notes from cougars wanting to take us to the danger zone and lint.

(Ben’s pockets) all of Alex’s guitar picks and of course, bangers. We are always writing!
